i like kids who like harry potter.

i give speeches to my night class kids once a week. this on is by far my favorite...

fyi.
it is totally normal for guys to call other guys handsome here. it is also normal for two guy friends to hold hands...
that one weirded me out at first. hah.

What movie character would you want to be? Why?

I want to be Harry Potter. I want to be Harry Potter because I can do some magic an dI can be a famouse person. I can learn magic and other funny thinks. I can meet funny teachers and I can meet ghosts and I can practice other things.

Who is your favorite actor or actress? What movies have they been in?

My favorite actor is Daniel Jacob Radcliffe. I like him because his acting is very fantastic and he is very handsom. I think he is the original male. He been of many television shows, movies. He is so famous and he get Best New Comer Award.

bad english makes me smile.

i teach english to kids...
and sometimes they get it wrong. here are some of my favorites.
what do you think they were trying to say?

"she has curly blond hair and is standing next to the bitch."

"teacher! ear sick?"

"what does your dad do? he is a pervert."

"mexico pig sick"

teaching kids is a lot of fun. it makes me happy that i can make them happy by letting them play soccer...or talking to them about k pop...or just smiling at them and saying hello.

teaching kids that don't always know what you are trying to tell them is an experience.

sometimes is miss being easily understood...
sometimes i really like the challenge.

south korea!

hello friends,

it is almost midnight here. i should go to sleep...but i'm tired in that way where you can't go to sleep. bah. so i'll write a blog post and be a good friend. hah.

the trip over here was an adventure. it kind of felt like i was living a sitcom. my flight out of atlanta was an hour late, so i came within five minutes of missing my connecting flight in japan. also, i set next to a talker. i was reading or watching a movie the whole time and he would just randomly look over and say things like "wow. dinner and a movie! it is like our first date!" or "you know. the first thing you should teach those kids is y'all. it is an important word.". at least there was no one sitting in the middle seat. hooray for more room!

by the time my flight got into south korea and i went through customs and immigration and got tested for swine flu or whatev, i had missed the last bus out. i had to get a taxi to the train station...and then get a train to my city. man. that was scary/a little fun. i'm sure i was the steriotype of the clumsy stupid american though. i had no idea what was going on...the strap on our of my bags had broken...i was bumping into people all over the place...i sat in the wrong seat...it was an experience. i ended up getting off at the wrong station and having to call the director of the school from a pay phone so that he could come get me. hah.

today was my first actual day here. i woke up and hung out with krista before she took me into where i will be working. i met people and looked around before i walked back to her apartment. the streets were fun to walk down. there are old women selling produce and such...

it has been pretty good so far, generally.
i start observing teachers tomorrow and actually teaching on tuesday. wish me luck!

i'm going to try and go sleep now.
i like sleep.

i'm leaving the country tomorrow!

i promised my friend that i would actually blog while i'm in south korea...
and i'm leaving tomorrow! i'm so excited and so nervous. it will be such an adventure.

so here is the deal. i've been trying to pack my entire life into a suitcase, and have barely been able to fit all of my clothes. this leaves no room for books and pictures and pieces of home to hang on the wall. tragic.

luckily, i am quite smart. i have an idea. i think that you guys should send me packages of books and things to hang on my wall and other such fun things. if you send me a package, i'll send you one back with fun korean things in it. you can even tell me what kind of things you would want sent to you, and i will do my best to find them.

here is my mailing address:

Paige Harwood c\o
EFL Language Institute
4F, 1432-2, Dowon-Dong
Dalseo-Gu, Daegu, Korea

(And it's the Republic of Korea when you go to mail it)

make sure you're return address is legible, or you put a note with your mailing address inside the package.

man. i love packages.

i'm a sucker for peer pressure...

so...my darling facebook wife has told me that i need to begin to blog.
i have begun.
i hope this makes her love me more.

here are some other things that i have done just to prove to a friend that i could:

-ate a banana without peeling it
-started jogging
-drank mint syrup
-told a stranger that he was beautiful
-stayed awake for over 30 hours (and i really like sleep...)
-learned to like honey mustard sauce
-taken 18-21hrs a semester while working like three jobs to get out of college in four years
-forced myself to stop being self conscious
-learned to open starbursts in my mouth
-cut my own hair
-gotten the best grade in the class on an exam without studying
-wore a towel on my head for an entire day
-made chicken cordon bleu from scratch (that was kind of gross...the process...the finished product was rather fantastic)

i'm going to try and start doing this rather consistently. i went back and read a bunch of livejournal posts from my freshman year of college...here's hoping that these will not suck quite as much as those.

i wished that i would be good at blogging at 11:11. i will not fail!
